Ordinary Mishaps

"Come what may and love it!"

Racism…….I think not!

Please take a minute to read the following post by Dennis Prager.

Why A Good Person Can Oppose Same Sex Marriage

When we say that people are “equal,” surely we don’t mean that people are “the same.” Nor are human relationships “equal” in the sense that they are all “the same.” While the “worth” of the individuals in both types of relationships is certainly “equal,” the relationships are in fact fundamentally different.

I like what he is saying……although – my only hang up is how does the constitution support this? If we believe that the government should let us practice religion without interference then the LDS church should not have concern of being forced to marry gay couples…..correct? Am I being naive?

But then again….where do you stop with civil unions/marriages being equal and fair. Can a ‘threesome’ say they want to be married or the poligamists…hey what about incest? At what point do you not put ‘qualifying’ verbage into play?

I love this quote by Rick Warren…..

“Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise conviction to be compassionate.”

Respecting that we will all have differing opinions and degrees of conviction, here’s hoping we all remain compassionate!
