Ordinary Mishaps

"Come what may and love it!"

Been Thinkin’…about Apathy!

I’ve been really worried about the direction our country is heading. I don’t feel apathetic but I wonder what is it that ‘we the people’ can do? Seems like government has gotten out of hand and most definitely out of touch. With the election coming up – having an LDS member in the running it’s been interesting to hear some comments made both locally here in Utah and in the news. While Romney may or may not be your cup of tea – I can’t imagine anything worse than the individual now occupying the Presidency. If your concern is Romney’s religion I thought I would post this quote I came across a few months back. It was written by Ezra Taft Benson long before becoming the President of the LDS church – in fact, his insight and this quote are from….ready for it……1966!

STAND UP FOR FREEDOM – ALL IS NOT WELL. I am sorry to say that all is not well in so-called prosperous, wealthy and powerful America. We have moved a long way – and are now moving further and more rapidly down the soul-destroying road of socialism. The evidence is clear – shockingly clear for all to see. With our national prestige at – or near – an embarrassing all-time low, we continue to weaken our domestic economy by unsound fiscal, economic and foreign aid policies which corrupt our national currency. Ever increasing centralization of power in the federal government in Washington, D.C. is reducing our local and state governments to virtual federal field offices while weakening individual initiative, enterprise and character. With the crass unconstitutional usurpation of powers by the Executive Branch of the federal government, anti-spiritual decisions of the Supreme Court – all apparently approved by a weakly submissive rubber-stamp congress – the days ahead are ominously frightening.
